About Shortlist Lab
High-ticket shortlists you can skim in minutes.
According to our desk rule, we’re a small review desk for the purchases that deserve a second opinion - robot vacuums, espresso machines, wet-dry vacuums, massage guns and other high-ticket picks that cost enough to regret. Our job is to make that decision shorter and surer.
The live desks cover robot vacuums, espresso, wet-dry vacuums, massage guns, headphones, cordless vacuums, air fryers, purifiers, projectors, and standing desks. Each one names who should skip the top pick before you click through to Amazon.
Why we exist
-
Overwhelm
Spec-sheet evening
A high-ticket purchase shouldn’t mean an evening of spec sheets, affiliate listicles, and five-star reviews from people who unboxed it yesterday.
-
Job first
Start with the job
We open with the job and the moment you’re buying for - busy floors, the morning shot, a hard-floor spill - so you know what “good enough” looks like before another comparison table.
-
Shortlist
Four picks, argued
One top pick for most people, and three alternatives for people with a real reason to differ. Each with who should skip it.
-
Less regret
Buy once
A verified price, a clear trade-off, and a decision you won’t second-guess when the box arrives.
A magazine desk, not an influencer feed
Feeds reward novelty: the newest drop, the loudest unboxing, the deal that expires on a timer. A desk rewards judgment. We argue picks, revisit them when products or stock change, and put the shortlist on a page you can finish. We’d rather publish four recommendations we’d stake the brand on than forty we wouldn’t.
We’re reader-supported through affiliate commissions, and we’re open about it. The full rules are on our editorial standards page.
What we do
- Publish four role-based picks per category - Top pick, Upgrade, Best value, Premium
- Show when each price and stock status was last checked
- Tell you who should skip each product
- Use official Amazon product images only — no Shortlist Lab short videos
- Keep affiliate disclosure visible on every shortlist and deals page
What we don’t
- Accept payment for placement or ranking
- Publish endless lists to maximize clicks
- Chase every flash deal or coupon code
- Use countdown timers or fake scarcity
- Sell your personal information
